Haruko Cho is known for the prints of her“B-cushion”.The object of art in this series are cushions of her own design made of cloth.First, they are carefully positioned, photographed and then printed on to the unique lokta paper from Nepal. Although the primitive impression of lokta paper seems similar to that of Japanese washi paper,it reveals the rough and strong texture of the fiber itself like the first paper made by mankind. When B-cushions are printed and transferred to lokta paper, they start changing their shape and color endlessly.Sometimes they appear as just a twisting mass of fabric and other times as soft mysterious creatures. Our eyes are captivated by these cushions’neverending transformations and the uniqueness of lokta paper even starts to stimulate our sense of touch. The endless collaborations of the object of art and paper continue to fascinate us and have earned prizes and awards in both domestic and international contests; The Japanese Contemporary Art Exhibition(sponsored by Mainichi Daily News),Krakow International Print Triennial(Poland),BHART BHAVAN Print Biennial(India)etc.
